MY COUCH
TODAY MY FATHER SOLD THE COUCH. THAT WONDERFUL FLORAL COUCH THAT I SO OFTEN SLEPT UPON AND WATCHED TV UPON AND GAMED UPON AND LULLED UPON. When it drove away, strapped to a trailer, i felt very very sad. like i lost an old friend, MY PAL THE COUCH.

COUCH, YOU HAVE MOVED ON TO A BETTER PLACE. WE HAVE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME TOGETHER WHICH I SHALL NEVER FORGET. THE DECADE WHICH WE HAVE SPENT TOGETHER SHALL BE TREASURED FOREVER AND I KNOW THAT YOU WILL BE LOVED JUST AS MUCH IN YOUR NEW HOME.

I'LL MISS YOU COUCH.

Though i don't mean to dramatise my relationship with the couch, i really did feel a pang of sadness when my dad told me he sold the couch, i didn't think it was necessary as i have always loved this couch and it wasan't even that old but as my father wanted a home-theatre styled couch, we were left with no choice :( GOODBYE!

On a happier note, WE WENT BOWLING YESTERDAY AND WATCHED SHERLOCK HOLMES AS WELL! Though i guess the bowling has more to blog about. As a quick summary, JEN IE IMHO IS BEST BOWLER EVARRRRRR. SHE CAN USE THOSE THREE FINGERS AND SWING THAT BALL WHEREVER SHE WANTS ;) ho ho ho.

And strike of course. AND CHIBI, THAT GUY, CAN BOWL!A turkey! RESPECT RESPECT BOY!

I would blog more today except thati wasted all my time reading my old posts instead of blogging and i have work tmrw so i would like to retire to my bed earlier. i realise that my old posts are a lot more ragier, emotional and have a lot more hatin'.
as i have told jen already, I AM A CHANGED MAN. I have learnt to live my life a lot happier and carefree with special thanks to the thankful loss or severance of some connections *cough*. I am grateful.

Goodnight People! i'll try blog more, i mean it this time :)

Cheers,
Steph

2012
While 2012 may be deemed a year of despair and destruction with many thanks to that movie, i think it will be a smashing year. I will start off my reasonining with the fireworks. I went to see the midnight fireworks FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME IN PERSON AND I WAITED LIEK 10 HOURS FOR THEM WITH THE BEST BUNCH OF PEOPLE IN THE WORRRRRRRLD!
YEAHHHHH so we went to mcmahons point/ blues point reserve, whatever and the view was SPECTACULAR. While waiting for 10 hours sounds really long, when you're with your friends i dont' think even 10 hours seems a long time. After some chatting, some card games and some toilet lining up, it was dark in no time and soon enough, there were fireworks. And may i add, THE FIREWORKS WERE FANTASTIC! I heard that they were going to be extra good this year and dude, i think this true. IT was absolutely beautiful and i was so awed by the BANG BANG BANG BOOM and the FLASH AND THE WHOLE SKY LIT UP FOR THE FINALE~ IT is actually a lot better than what the TV shows. Those 10 hours were not wasted and were totally worth the centre point front row seats of the harbour bridge. ( even though we were on the back side, technically)

This day also proved to be my first time staying up so late, or early. After the fireworks (i was already SO FREAKING SLEEPY), we went to go k. While i have k'd many times at 2:30 in the afternoon, i have never ever come close to k-ing at 2:30 in the morning. It was an interesting experience as it all kind of seemed like a trance cos i was super sleepy to start with and while we sang songs like 2012, fireworks, moving mountains and hero, schoolies, new year and baulko 2011 merged all into a mushy ice cream. We only had time for an hour of k which i was very surprised they had time for. I would think that all the places would be PACKEDDD choc a bloc full of partying asians but i guess i am wrong. there are a lot of k places in Sydney i suppose. So we headed back home at about 330 and got home at 5. I GOT HOME AT 5 AM IN THE MORNING AND AFTER I SHOWERED I PEERED OUT THE WINDOW AND I SEE WEAK BEAMS OF DAYLIGHT STREAMING THROUGH THE FRAME OF MY BLINDS. Another new experience, i have never ever stayed up until daylight streamed through my window again. However, i got to sleep like in 2 seconds to be woken up 4 hours later at about 9:30.

9:30 am on New years day. I SLEPT 4 HOURS, THAT'S LIKE NOTHING COMPARED TO MY USUAL 8 HOURS. still though, i was determined to spend new year's day with my family, so we went to the beach. THE SAND DUNES BEACH may i add, not normal beaches like bondi and murrays beach and the small ones. This one has like a desert of sand and 20km stretch of coast. the desert so big in fact that you HAVE to drive accross it. AND YOU DON'T NEED A LICENCE! while that is no longer exciting for me cos i do have a licence now, i remember that i used to have SOO MUCH FUN DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENCE ON SAND DUNES. While we've come to this beach many many times before, we've nevr really gotten ' stuck'. After we arrived, we ate lunch AND DUG PIPI'S. we dug lots and lots but sadly, as the beach was a conservation area we had to chuck them all back in :( i wantedt o eat them but at least the process of digging them was fun. I drove around in the four wheel drive for a while, feeling a little sad knowing that it was to be sold soon and wondering how many years would it be would i come back to this beach which is really inaccessible without a 4WD. I really love that place, Stockton beach. So after i had a go driving around, my brother who has been lusting after driving for forever now, had a got at the wheel. He was very VERY excited of course about driving next to the water. IT is a very strange experience seeing the water so close to the wheel and under usual circumstances, wet sand provides an easier ground to drive on as it is more solid however in this case the sand was no longer all wet but half dry and it was also VERYYY sloped towards the water which as a result landed our car stuck in the sand. For those whodo not understand wha ti mean by stuck, picture this. A 4WD driving through sand but the sand is like quick-sand and as you rev more, the wheels spin rapidly but the car does not move forward but insteads digs a deeper hole, digging and digging until the sand eventually rises higher and higher and your car has lodged itself in the sand, immobile. THAT, IS CALLED BEING STUCK. Now our car was doing that, AND ON A SLOPE DOWN TOWARDS THE WATER. My dad has had previous experiences such as this and it usually involves digging your car out and making a path out. We have also had experiences of helping other people randomly out of the sand by towing them out with our car. However, before we had the chance to decide what to do, a family in this MASSIVE 4WD STOPPED BY. With one look at the 4WD it was easy to determine that they do this quite often. They had like monster truck tyres and their suspension was liek FUARRRRR and the car was nearly a metre off the ground. With wheels like that, they would definitely not get stuck. So the family got out, a local famiy i would assume, with two kids and they were all sunburnt to the point where i would thinkthey came out of spongebob squarepants and were relatives to krusty krabb. They were VERY LOBSTER RED. ( or perhaps zoidberg?) but still thye were REALLY FRIENDLY. They were like alright, we'll just help push the car out while you rev. So they all, in a very practiced fashion, lined up against the front of the car and started pushing as my dad attempted to reverse. While me my brother and mum were rather clueless, we follwed suit and pushed. Soon the car was free of those giant holes in the sand and we thanked our saviours and got back into the car to drive. The other family drove off too.

So we try to drive off again and BAM the car is stuck again. We're like oh boy oh boy but luckily, the other family who were already at least 300 m away saw us getting stuck again and turned back to help us. They were indeed a VERY nice family. So the lobster father comes up and says ' oh it seems you need a hand. here, i'll tow you." So he ties up our car with his and he starts driving at the same time my dad revs up too. All this while the rest of us are just standing there, feeling useless. Especially the rest of my family as well. Soon enough the car moved forward and for a moment it seemed unstuck as their car was pulling ours onto flatter ground. Until then their car started struggling up the slope and we could see their wheels digging in the sand. So they were forced to stop. Their car too was starting to get stuck. The father said we'd have to detach it while he drove off to try another direction. So at this point, he drives off and stops his car up the slope and pull our car UP the slope. Then two more 4WD's stop over, and they are complete strangers them selves and ask ' HIYA FOLKS. NEED A HAND?' Here i was feeling very warm on the inside because all these people are so nice and they all stopped over to help us. The two new families immediately grabbed two shovels and started shovelling sand from under our car. I was feeling more useless than ever.

After they shovelled the sand, the first car pulled our car out of the slope and drove for another 200 m to make sure that we were well and truly un stuck. SO HERE WE WERE LIKE YAYY WE CAN GO HOME NOW WE'RE NOT STUCK ANYMORE THANKS GAIZ YOU'VE BEEN A GREAT BUNCH TO US. And then as we were celebrating, a navara drives past quite fast and then ...

YOU GUESSED IT, THEY GOT STUCK IN EXACLTY THE SAME PLACE THAT WE JUST GOT UNSTUCK FROM. So then that family gets out of the car and starts examining the problem. Here, my family runs back to our car, gets in and decides to drive off ( and not help the newly stuck car) because we're asians. no not really, it was just because we weren't much help anyway and our car was definitely not as equipped as the others. While the other family then drove back again and helped the navara. I can only assume that they too were rescued quickly.
My dad said " This is better than NRMA, AND IT'S FREE!"

It was on new years day that i experienced the true Australian spirit. I was feeling very happy afterwards because well it was new years day, and i felt that these locals that helped us out were really very friendly to us even though we were asian and were very happy to help. This is what Australia should be.

( not to get all touchy and nation tying here) They really were very good people and it seemed that they ENJOYED doing this. LIke they just patrol around the beach all day, helping everyone D: WHAT NICE PEOPLE

Well this is a super long post and while there is more to type, i'm feeling sick ( from going out too much and perhaps lack of sleep) so i'll leave it here today.

AND JEN, DON'S BED TIME STORY IS HILARIOUS. ERIN IS GOING TO MURDER YOU :P

LOL DON, YOUR IPHONE HAS A GPS I THINK.

ANYWAY,
CHEERS!
